What is a Prospective Marriage Visa?

This is a visa granted by Australia that allows you to marry your prospective spouse. You may then apply for a Partner Visa.

It is a legal requirement to sign a document ‘Notice of Intended Marriage‘ at least one month prior to marriage.

This then must be lodged with your chosen Registered Marriage Celebrant.

I complete this document on your behalf, as part of my service.

I must have one of you in attendance, to sign the document with me as witness.  Your partner can sign once they arrive into Australia, however, I do ask them to email me, stating they are fully aware that the ‘Notice of Intented Marriage’ is being lodged with me.

If you are both living outside of Australia, you can forward me your documents, I will prepare the document ready for signing, and send you the pdf copy to sign in front of a Notory Public.

Once the signed Notice of Intended Marriage is lodged with myself, I will forward you a Fiance Visa letter for Immigration and the Prospective Marriage Visa, confirming that you intend to marry on your chosen date and where.

You may choose to have a simple marriage ceremony, low cost with minimal fuss, signing the legal paperwork with two witnesses and myself, the Marriage Celebrant.  If you do not have two witnesses, I can provide these for you, for a small fee. (witnesses must be 18 year or over)

Or, you may wish to have some guests attend.

I live very close to the CBD, where so many beautiful spots are available to make your legal marriage memoriable.

I conduct this style of marriage Monday – Friday am/pm or Saturday – Sunday am.

Vows ……. let me tell you a secret!

Its not as difficult as you might think …… Let me show you!

It is as simple as…. what made you want to say ‘I do’?

If someone was to ask me, ‘Kerrie, what makes Lewey, your life partner and ‘your one’?

I believe I would struggle being put on the spot, in fact ….. Lewey was asked this question, where he hesitated before being reminded what the question was  …. haha …..

or

I may be able to give you a list as long as my arm of why I love the bones of my irritating, yet, best friend,  however, stood in front of all my favourite people, and recite my vows, well, it’s a very different story.

While it may seem terrifying, there is something so unbelievably powerful about reciting your own personally put together words.

As a celebrant, your vows are my favourite and most intimate moment of the ceremony … and the moment you become ‘husband and wife’.

It is not when you hear “with the power invested in meeeeeee”  nonsense …..

Please give me a good talking to if you ever hear me say those words …. ha-ha!

Flick me an email and I will forward you my Vow Guide.

Let’s discuss the Notice of Intended Marriage….

In Australia, there is a mandatory notice period for all marriages, which is, at minimum, one month prior to your marriage.

This obligation is met by lodging a Notice of Intended Marriage with your Celebrant.

As your Celebrant, I will complete the Notice of Intended Marriage for you, at our first meeting and lodge the document.

We can then discuss your marriage date and, if required, provide a Fiancé Visa Letter.

Although both parties to the marriage are required to sign the ‘Notice of Intended Marriage’ prior to the marriage taking place, if one person is unavailable at the time of lodgement, the other party can lodge it on their behalf.  (I will require an email from the unavailable person, confirming that they are fully aware that the Notice is being lodged with me)

It is a simple, but very important process and without the Notice of Intended Marriage, you cannot marry in Australia.

So, what are you waiting for?  …. Get in contact with me and I will sort everything else for you. xx
